Artiste - Lawyer - Activist - Leader
Born in 1982 in Mpigi District and raised in the Kamwokya slum in Kampala, Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert, known worldwide as Bobi Wine, understands firsthand what it means to struggle, survive, and ultimately rise.
As the award-winning musician behind a generation-defining body of work, Bobi Wine used music as a mirror for Uganda's social and political realities, speaking truth to power when silence was the safer option. His music became the unofficial soundtrack of a generation demanding change.
In 2017, he won the Kyadondo East by-election as an independent candidate, defeating established political candidates from different political parties by a wide margin. His entry into formal politics was not a departure from his activist roots, it was an amplification of them.
"We are not just fighting for our generation. We are fighting for every Ugandan who deserves to live in dignity, security, and freedom."
He studied at Harvard Kennedy School's Leadership programme and holds a Bachelor of Laws from Cavendish University, Kampala.
